We Need Your Help A Request from Ed Chasteen HateBusters is a 501 c-3 non-profit organization. We teach people how to like people and how to oppose hate. We go into elementary schools, middle schools and high schools and teach students how to talk to each other so they can help and not hurt one another. With our book, How To Like People Who Are Not Like You, we show students how to like themselves, their families and people of other races and religions. When a cross is burned or hate shows itself in some other form, people call us to come and help redeem the situation. We have been invited by governors and mayors, by churches and other faith communities, by civic clubs and ordinary citizens. We were invited to the White House Hate Crimes Conference. We never say no when we are asked to come and we never charge fees when we go. We do have expenses. Our office expenses, including computer, Internet, web page, postage, utilities, rent and office supplies comes to $300. per month. Travel by car within the Kansas City metropolitan area costs another $300. per month. If we can raise $600. per month, HateBusters can continue its work. All of us donate our time because we believe that what we do must be done. We are willing and even eager to donate our time, but we do not have the money to pay for what needs to be done. We cannot bring ourselves to ask for money from those who need our help. They often are desperate for immediate help. Their money is needed for other things and they would not call us if they had to pay. So we turn to you. We believe that good people who believe in what we do will provide the support we need. If only 100 people would send us six dollars each month, we could continue our work. If more than 100 people could send us $6.00 each month, we could expand our work.
