On Tuesday, November 14, The Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council will hold it’s Second Annual Table of Faiths Celebration luncheon. It will be at the Crown Center Hotel, 1 East Pershing Road, Kansas City, MO from 11:30a.m.-1:30 p.m. In their press release, the Council said:
“We are thrilled to announce that our honorees for this year's celebration are Don and Adele Hall and Ed Chasteen. Don Hall is Chairman of Hallmark Cards and Chairman of the Hall Family Foundation. Adele Hall is an active community volunteer. Ed Chasteen, founder of HateBusters, developed a unique pluralism curriculum at William Jewell College.”
I have invited the 30 students who were in my U.S. Pluralism class last spring to come as my guests to the Table of Faiths luncheon on November 14. I have asked them all to wear the HateBusters shirt I gave them. I want everyone at the luncheon to know what wondrous things we do here on this campus. I need your help. Below are the names of the 30 students who were in my class. Wade graduated and is teaching in Richmond. The others were sophomores when they took my class. I have sent them all an email, inviting them to come on November 14 and telling them I would buy their tickets and provide transportation.

The people whose identities my students assumed were members of the Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council. So when our students come to the luncheon, we will be reuniting folks whose lives irrevocably intertwined in ways that will forever enrich them.
I need help getting my students to the luncheon. I need to find the money to buy their tickets. I will drive to the luncheon with my wife and family and sit with them. My hope is that my students would come, wearing their HateBusters shirts and sit at the table with the person whose identity they had assumed for the class.
“Let it never be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment, known as Camelot.” In the world as I would have it, our brief time together at the Table of Faiths luncheon is our Camelot moment.
May it be so.
Tickets to the luncheon cost $45.00. I’m hoping that all of you who get this message might come. You will be inspired. Your presence will magnify the inspiration. If you can come, please call Mahnaz Shabbir at 816-213-2536 or Sheila Sonnenschein at 913-402-8588. I’m also hoping that you could help me find the money to pay for my students to attend. If you could contribute to this, please make your check to HateBusters and mail to Box 442, Liberty, MO 64069. All contributions are tax deductible.
Hopefully,
Ed Chasteen
